DC adapter + Wi-Fi setup for your Avia device
Connect your Avia device to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. The only setup that needs the mobile app.
Wi-Fi is an option when running an Ethernet cable to the entrance isn't practical. This is the only setup path that requires the Avia mobile app (App Store or Google Play); PoE and Ethernet setups don't use it. Setup happens in the mobile app after the device is physically mounted.
Warning: Avia devices support 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. 5 GHz is not supported and the device will not detect or connect to a 5 GHz network. If your router broadcasts both bands under one combined SSID, the device may fail to connect: ask your IT team to separate the SSIDs by band, or create a dedicated 2.4 GHz network.
Before you start
Device mounted, DC adapter connected
Your phone on the same network as the device
Your 2.4 GHz network name (SSID) and password on hand
Steps
Open the Avia mobile app and tap Scan for Device.
Select your device when it appears.
In the setup wizard, choose Wi-Fi as your network method.
Select your 2.4 GHz network from the list (or enter the SSID manually if it doesn't appear).
Enter your Wi-Fi password.
Confirm in the app. The device will reboot and connect via Wi-Fi.
Wait for the app to re-detect the device over Wi-Fi (30-60 seconds).
Network requirements
The device consumes between 3W and 6W; a standard outlet via the included DC adapter is sufficient.
Tip: If the entrance is far from your router, weak signal causes intermittent dropouts and data gaps. Consider adding a Wi-Fi access point near the entrance, or switching to Ethernet/PoE for a more reliable connection.
