Wi-Fi setup
Wi-Fi is the most flexible connectivity option. The setup is done through the Avia app after the device is physically mounted.
Important: 2.4 GHz only
Avia devices support 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. 5 GHz is not supported. If your router broadcasts both bands under one combined SSID, the device may fail to connect β ask your IT team to separate the SSIDs by band, or create a dedicated 2.4 GHz network.
Before you start
Even for Wi-Fi setups, you need to start with Ethernet and DC power both connected. The app uses the Ethernet connection to find the device initially, then guides you through switching to Wi-Fi.
Setup steps (in the Avia app)
Mount the device and connect both the DC adapter and an Ethernet cable
Open the Avia app and tap Scan for Device β ensure your phone is on the same network
Select your device when it appears
In the setup wizard, choose Wi-Fi as your network method
Select your 2.4 GHz network from the list (or enter the SSID manually if it doesn't appear)
Enter your Wi-Fi password
When the app prompts you, unplug the Ethernet cable
Confirm in the app β the device will reboot and connect via Wi-Fi
Wait for the app to re-detect the device over Wi-Fi (30β60 seconds)
Do not unplug Ethernet before the app tells you to β the app controls the switch-over timing.
After setup
Once connected via Wi-Fi, you can remove the Ethernet cable permanently. The DC adapter stays connected for power.
Network requirements
Power draw
The device consumes between 3W and 6W. A standard outlet via the included DC adapter is sufficient.
Signal strength
If the entrance is far from your router, weak signal causes intermittent dropouts and data gaps. Consider adding a Wi-Fi access point near the entrance, or switching to Ethernet/PoE for a more reliable connection.
Need help?
If the device cannot connect to Wi-Fi after checking the network name, password, and 2.4 GHz compatibility, contact Avia support at support@retailogists.com.
When contacting support, include:
Store name
Device serial number
Wi-Fi network type, if known
Whether the Wi-Fi network is 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz
